HORSE RESCUE

MISSION

Calico Junction Horse rescue is a licensed non-profit organization dedicated to the well being of horses, mules and donkeys.  In our horse rescue program we rescue unwanted and abused horses all over middle Tennessee, Alabama and Kentucky.  Most abused, neglected and unwanted horses, like people, have personality and behavior  problems which make it difficult to place them in good homes.  So, not only do we rescue horses but we take the time to rehabilitate them into useful, trusting and productive animals. After rehabilitating the rescued equine they are placed in several different programs or adopted out to new responsible homes.

ADOPTION

The process of adoption involves knowledge of both the horse to be placed, and the prospective adopter. It is of the utmost importance to insure we place our rescues in homes where they will receive necessary food, water, shelter and veterinary care.  It is our desire to place our rescues in the best place possible to insure their future care and comfort.

Please be sure you are ready and able to adopt before applying.  Suitable facilities for equines include an all weather shelter, safe fencing, access to clean water at all times and the financial ability to appropriately care for the adopted animal.   If you have any questions regarding whether you currently have suitable facilities to care for an adoption, please let us know.  We ask adopting homes provide photos of where the adopted animal(s) will be kept.  If you believe you do not at this time have a suitable facility but want to assist our rescue efforts, please feel free to donate to Calico Junction Horse Rescue.  Please click on the donation button below for further information.

Adoption Fee Options:

    a.      Donation fee per animal (listed with each name and picture) or;

    b.      Donated items valued at equal or greater than the amount of the adopted horse that Calico Junction Horse Rescue may need at time of adoption.

Please contact us if you have any questions regarding the adoption process and future care.
